Since leaving the Early Access phase and releasing PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS there were quite a few big tournaments and the developers worked hard to make life difficult for the cheaters and hackers. How it continues with the Battle Royale Shooter and what plans there are for the next year Brendan "PLAYERUNKNOWN" Greene Presented personally on a blog today.

In it he describes how the last 2 years of development formed the basis for the most realistic Battle Royale shooter that is on the market. Millions of players and permanent sales records confirm this and make PUBG the success story in the genre.

For the next year, the developers have announced a 2 month cycle for the publication of new content. The first update should come this month. Each of the updates should focus on improving or revising a particular system and / or bringing new content. The players and fans should be more involved, including a new one Experimental test server, on which more serious changes are to be tried.

Another aspect of the Greene Mentioned is the improvement of the graphics. The graphic artists work, for example, on improving the houses and also provide a before / after picture for comparison:

Below are the highlights of the PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS Roadmap 2018

  • New game content
    • A new island map will be released on the Experimental Test Server next month. In terms of size, it is rather smaller at 4x4km and thus offers a significantly faster battle royale experience.
  • The emote system will also come to the test server so that the players can give feedback.
  • New game modes
  • Additional vehicles are expected to arrive in the first half of 2018
  • Larger range of weapons and accessories
  • An 8x8km map is also in development
  • Achievements
  • In-game friend lists
  • Voice chat
  • More customization options for your characters, including:
    • Parachute skins
    • Weapons skins
  • Revision of the ballistic system, including penetration hits that penetrate limbs and vehicles
  • Improvement of the animation system so that the whole game looks smoother. This also includes the animations for getting into vehicles and interactions with the environment
  • Adjustments to skydiving with the aim that the control reacts better and generally runs more smoothly (again with regard to the animations)
  • General ongoing improvements to stability, optimization and security. These points are in long-term focus and are never "done".
  • Sound: Improvements to the level of detail in the vehicle sounds in the first six months. Focus on the player noises in the second half of the year.
  • Custom games are expanded

The esports scene is developing slowly, but it's still a long way from where the developers want to be. The feedback from the fan base is incredibly valuable. The focus at this point is on the 3D replay system and the “Spectator Tool”, ie the spectator mode.

They expect PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS so a whole lot of new features and the developers show their long-term support for the Battle Royale game.
