Squadron 42

For all Star Citizen Fans got a big Christmas present from the developers, a one-hour video too Squadron 42. A complete mission with discussion and gameplay is shown.

Squadron 42 - also jokingly called Wing Commander 2018

Squadron 42 is the stand alone game from the Star Citizen universe and offers a single player campaign and missions. The game shines with a lot of well-known actors like Mark Hamill, Gary Oldman, Mark Strong, John Rhys-Davies, Liam Cunningham and much more.

This is not the first time Mark Hamill and John Rhys-Davies have collaborated on a computer game. Already in 1996 the two stood together in Wing Commander IV: The Price of Freedom in front of the camera.

But the similarities don't end there. Chris Roberts is just like the producer back then and between the space missions you have full freedom of movement on the carrier ship. You can talk to crew members, march to your next briefing and then start the battle with the space fighter. The player has the free choice, either you can run from mission to mission and just indulge in the action or you can stand around for 5 minutes and listen to the NPCs in their everyday conversations. If you overdo it and miss the date for the next briefing, the other crew members will comment on that with "Don't you have to be Lieutenant somewhere else?"

In addition to the cinematic presentation between the missions, the video also shows an operation including a small battle, exploring a stranded ship and flying over a planet. So if you want to get a comprehensive overview, the complete video is really recommended.

One Release date for Squadron 42, after some postponements, no more. Similar to the main Star Citizen project, the development is taking a long time
