Starcraft 2

With the War Chest announced today for Starcraft 2 Blizzard offers a lot of new skins for your units, as well as the chance to increase the prize pool of the Blizzcon tournaments.

Starcraft 2 Protoss

More than 70 new skins, sprays, emojis and portraits are in the 3 War Chests. You have the choice whether you choose one of the races ($ 9.99) or buy all three for $ 24.99. This immediately unlocks the first 2 skins, you can earn more over the next few weeks using an experience system. You only have to play multiplayer or co-op matches in order to gain experience for the unlocked boxes and thus to receive more and more items. If you have purchased the complete package with all 3 boxes, you also unlock all 3 in parallel, so you don't have to play three times as many games.

Here is a brief overview of the skins and phases:

Starcraft 2 goes Dota 2

In addition to the tons of skins that Blizzard offers here at discount prices, a proportion of every War Chest sold goes into the BlizzCon 2017 prize pool.

The prize pool already consists of a whopping 500,000 US dollars, with the proceeds from the War Chest adding 200,000. The other proceeds of the War Chest will go specifically to the event and eSports production 2017/2018.

Who is with this system now Valves The International and the Dota 2 compendium feels reminded, is not wrong. The International is the highlight of the season and the world championship for Dota 2. For years, the compendium with skins, levels, solo campaigns, etc., sold on Steam, has provided. for a huge prize sum at the international tournament. In 2016 the fans raised the record amount of ~ 19 million US dollars. For 2017 there are already ~ 21 million US dollars in the pot and the whole 3 weeks before the end of the campaign.

Due to the limit of $ 200,000, we will probably not see such values on Starcraft 2 this year. If there is enough response, we might experience an open system in 2018.
