Starcraft 2 - War Chest Reaches $ 200,000 for eSports

Starcraft 2

It has taken less than 2 weeks since the reveal of the War Chest for Starcraft 2 to reach the goal of 200,000 US dollars. The War Chest offers a whole range of cosmetic content such as skins, sprays, portraits, emojis and more at a discounted price. 25% of the proceeds will flow into the prize pool of the Starcraft 2 World Championship at Blizzcon.

Thus, the total prize money that the pros fight for amounts to 500,000 US dollars (based on Blizzard) + 200,000 US dollars through the War Chest. The first prize alone brings the lucky winner the sum of 280,000 US dollars.

In the history of Starcraft 2 eSports, this represents the largest prize money to date.

Furthermore, future eSports events will be financed from all sold War Chests and the Starcraft 2 scene will be expanded. Spectators and professional players alike should benefit from this and improve the competitive scene.

The War Chest is a good way to show interest in the eSports scene and to arrange for further tournaments.

The Starcraft 2 War Chest

There are 3 war chests in total, one for each breed ($ 9.99 each), or you can buy the full package ($ 24.99). There are a total of over 70 new portrais, emojis, skins and sprays for Starcraft 2.

With the purchase of one or more war chests you unlock an experience system for the corresponding race. You will then gain experience through cooperation or multiplayer matches and earn additional rewards at every level. Games count for all unlocked races and you collect 3 experience for all of them.
